PATRICK EMERLING GOES BACK-TO-BACK IN FERRIS MOWERS RACE OF CHAMPIONS FUELED BY SUNOCO COMPETITION WITH A WIN IN THE QUEEN CITY CLASH "75" AT LANCASTER NATIONAL SPEEDWAY

The Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco made stop one of four at the Lancaster National Speedway this past Saturday night and when the dust settled Orchard Park, N.Y.’s, Patrick Emerling, held off a hard charging Chuck Hossfeld to visit victory lane for the second consecutive race.

“My team gave me a great car to drive tonight,” explained Emerling. “Chuck (Hossfeld) is so good here, he’s tough to beat and has so many laps here. To be beating guys like him is an awesome feeling. The car handled well all night and the track was really good. It’s a dream come true to be winning like this. We’re going to enjoy this tonight and get ready for next week.”

Emerling also took over the early season point lead. He currently leads Jimmy Zacharias by 25 points.

“It’s never too early to be thinking about the points,” smiled Emerling. “But, if you run well, the points will take care of themselves.”

Hossfeld, who started 12th after the redraw, charged to the front of the field and finished a strong second.

“The redraw set us back,” began Hossfeld. “But, I’ve got to give it to Patrick and his team, those guys are performing well right now and they’ve done a heck of a job. My team did an excellent job as well, we finished second but we put on a show that I think the fans enjoyed because it was just great racing.”

John Wilber led the field to the green flag from the pole position before Brian Defebo slipped by on lap 16. Defebo led until Emerling flexed his muscle taking the lead from Defebo and holding it until the conclusion of the 75-lap race.

Jimmy Zacharias finished third, with Tyler Rypkema fourth and Mike Leaty rounded out the top-five.

Chuck Hossfeld set a new track record in the Timed Hot Lap session to establish the heat race line up with a time of 16.651 (108.10 mph).

The next event for the Race of Champions is Saturday, May 28 at Chemung Speedrome in Chemung, N.Y.
