THUNDER IN THE HILLS 100 ON TAP FOR FERRIS MOWERS
RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT MODIFIED TEAMS
First 100 Lap Race of the Season for Asphalt Modified
Series Racers |
The
Thunder in the Hills 100 presents Ferris Mowers Race of Champions
Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco teams with a unique
challenge. It is the only visit the series will pay to the legendary
high banks of Holland International Speedway and it is the first
100-lap race of the season for competitors.
“This is going to be an interesting race,” stated Daryl Lewis, Jr.
“We have been able to change a tire during this race in the past and
this year, the rules will not allow us to change a tire. We will be
racing 100 laps on the same set of tires, so it’s going to take a
lot of different things to be successful in the event. It’s going to
be an interesting night. We hope we have another good finish when
the checkered flag waves.”
Lewis has accumulated strong finishes this season, including a 5th,
in the most recent event at Lancaster (N.Y.) National Speedway as
well having led many laps in several other races which has placed
him 6th in the current Series Championship standings.
“We’ve been having a good season,” continued Lewis. “It’s a team and
family effort. My Dad has been doing this for a long time and
everyone in our family makes sacrifices and commitments to get this
done. I couldn’t be where I’m at without all of there help.”
Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., currently leads the
championship standings as the Series heads to Holland International
Speedway. Emerling is the defending champion of the Thunder in the
Hills 100 and a winner of the three Series events this season,
including the most recent event at Lancaster.
